Welcome to 1st Amersham Common Scout Group, or 1AC, as we like to be known. If you are looking for fun and adventure in the great outdoors, then you have come to the right place! 1AC is a growing group, providing plenty of exciting opportunities and experiences for young people from the age of 6 to 14 and beyond.
Scouting contributes to the education of young people, through a value system based on the Scout Promise and Law, to help build a better world where people are self-fulfilled as individuals and play a constructive role in society. We provide a non-formal learning environment, strengthening the capacity of young people to face the challenges of tomorrow.
A Little bit of History ...
The 1st Amersham Common Scout hut was opened in 1974.
Activities
We do various activities with others in the district and county; with the Beavers having annual sleepovers to places like the National Space Center and Gulliver's Land; and our Scouts taking part in regional competitions including shooting, archery, orienteering hikes, etc. We won the Buckinghamshire Annual Shooting last in 2024. Within the village we also take part in annual events such as the Remembrance Sunday parade and the Carol service. We helped with the development of the Little Chalfont Nature Park in clearing some areas of logs, etc and planting some cherry trees before it was opened; and plant bulbs along Amersham Way stretch of grass each year to increase the display of daffodils.
