It was in Wendover Woods and was good fun. The walk had good views – very picturesque. We also did quite well – 5th out of about 90. I enjoyed the event a lot. Overall, I think this is a good, diverse Scout group with a wide range of activities. Stuart Abseiling at PACCAR (13th March 2024) On the 13th of March we travelled to PACCAR to do some abseiling where we climb down a vast wooden wall with out feet (with shoes) and crate stacking that included having a partner and involved great teamwork by having to climb up blocks one by one until there are no more blocks to climb up. Although I could only do abseiling twice, I had a great time enjoying climbing down a big wall, even if I couldn’t get the opportunity to do crate stacking this time, I had the best of fun. Haren Knife whittling (6th March 2024) On the 6th March, we did whittling which is where you cut pieces of wood with a knife. We learnt about how to use knives safely. You can do this by having the knife blade facing away when you are not using it and having the sheaf covering the knife. The goal of whittling was to make a very sharp point (similar to a pencil). This was very useful because it is important to whittle in a survival situation to make campfires and things like that. William
