Scouts are boys and girls aged between 10½ to 14 years. We have one Scout Troop who meet on Wednesdays between 6:30pm and 8pm, during term time; normally at the Scout Hut, Westwood Park, Little Chalfont Nature Park or one of the local Scout Camp sites.
Participation rather than meeting set standards is the key approach, and for the Scout who wants to be recognised for his or her achievements there are a number of Challenges awards and activity badges. Scouting is about being with friends, as part of a team, and participating fully in the adventure and opportunities of life. Scouts take part in a Balanced Programme that helps them to find out about the world in which they live, encourages them to know their own abilities and the importance of keeping fit, and helps develop their creative talents. It also provides opportunities to explore their own values and personal attitudes.
Our Scouts play an active part in the community including doing a Scout Christmas Post with some other local groups.
The Scout Law & Promise All Scouts should learn the Scout Law and Promise before their investiture. The Scout Promise is slightly different to the Cub Promise they may already know.
The Scout Law
A Scout is to be trusted.
A Scout is loyal.
A Scout is friendly and considerate.
A Scout belongs to the world-wide family of Scouts.
A Scout has courage in all difficulties.
A Scout makes good use of time and is careful of possessions and property.
A Scout has self-respect and respect for others.
The Scout Promise On my honour, I promise that I will do my best to uphold our Scout values, to do my duty to The Queen, to help other people and to keep the Scout Law
Scout Badges Please find below links for information on the badges Scouts can work on (Activity, Staged and Challenge). There is also a link giving information on where to get uniform and where badges go. Many of these are covered, either completely or in part, during Scout sessions (details of which are covered each term are included in the program). Scouts are also invited to work towards other badges outside of the weekly sessions as we can't cover them all.
